On tomorrow's agenda: a flight to DC. I'll be there for the weekend and will be back to regularly scheduled blogging early next week!

Never look directly at the sun
This photo doesn't show the amazing colors that were in the sky today (blues and greens and pinks); it was like nothing I had ever seen. Nonetheless, I thought it was a neat picture!

Shopping update
I was drawn back to the outdoor gear...and emerged the proud owner of this 12-oz., 800-fill down jacket.
Getting into the outdoors -- or at least, shopping therefor
Neil found a great warehouse sale of outdoor equipment and gear. The company, GoLite, has a giant room filled with ripstop nylon and GoreTex and down -- oh my! We each paid the site a visit yesterday (and ran into each other there), walking away with down jackets and ski pants. There may be a return visit in my future.

Door-to-door artist
I just had someone come to the door and offer to sell me a sample of his artwork -- a cartoon book that, he informed me, would take me about thirty minutes to read. The price of this cartoon book was however much I deemed it was worth. In the event that I did not need a cartoon book, then I should feel free to make a donation to him anyways to "support the arts." Entrepreneurial, I suppose...
A very Boulder day
Yesterday, we had a very Boulder-type day. We started out with brunch at the Walnut Cafe, which is apparently something of a Boulder institution. (The granola and chocolate chip pancakes were quite tasty!) Then we met one of Neil's coworkers for a hike on the Mesa Trail; her dog Samson proved a very able hiker in his own right. I, on the other hand, have yet to acclimate, so the uphill bit of the hike proved a bit of a struggle.
After recovering from the breathlessness, we followed up the hiking with some ski shopping -- and I am now the proud owner of skis, boots, and poles! They are my early birthday present from a very sweet Neil. As I have never had my own ski equipment before, I am very excited and eager to try them out. Though we won't have a chance to hit the slopes until after Thanksgiving, we're sure to take full advantage of our ski passes once we make it out. Come visit us, and we'll take you too!

Prepare your skis
Well, the forecast is calling for snow this evening -- and the look of the sky is backing up that prediction. I didn't realize that I would be introduced to my first snow as a Colorado resident so soon! That said, the ski slopes could use some of the white stuff. (No, not cocaine.) Though Keystone is technically open already, only four of its 135 runs are currently accessible. Below is a schedule for some of the nearby resorts: plan your visit to us accordingly.

Nous sommes arrivés
Well, we did it. We made it to Colorado -- complete with the ten bags we carried or checked onto the flight. We began unpacking last night, realizing in the process that we had stuffed quite a lot into our cars. (The cars were, thank goodness, awaiting us exactly where they were supposed to be.) And so begins the settling-in...

M-Day is nigh!
Moving time is nearly upon us. We have a mere two full days remaining in Dallas before we head out to granola-eating, tree-hugging, Birkenstock-wearing Boulder.
Neil and I have our fleeces at the ready. Our cars have already arrived in Colorado and await us patiently. Our suitcases are out and, though still empty, they clearly long to be filled with our worldly possessions. (They also have a distinct predilection for anthropomorphism, as do our cars.) Though our bags are not packed and we're not quite yet ready to go, we're on the verge of living out the John Denver song.
